GUELPH YOUTH MUSIC CENTRE

The Guelph Youth Music Centre will be holding a Medieval Festival, KnightsFest on Monday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In its fifth year, this a family fun event with lots of activities for everyone to enjoy.

The KnightsFest festival will include displays, costumes, games, activities and entertainment, all to the theme of the Medieval era.

“Thanks to the generous support of TD, we’re so pleased to be able to present the fifth year of KnightsFest – our medieval festival which will be fun for the whole family. Families are looking for activities they can enjoy together without spending lots of money. Knightsfest is fun, interactive and FREE! You can’t beat that,” commented Gabriella Currie-Ziegler, Executive Director of the GYMC.

“Blackthorn Productions will be returning again. They are always a big hit and we’re pleased to be able to bring them back. We had lots of great feedback about the rubbings the kids were able to create, so Medieval Brass Rubbings will also be with us again. These professionals who are well versed in the Medieval and Renaissance eras will interact with those who attend through music, costumed demonstrations, interactive games and activities, armour workshops and brass rubbings. What better way to celebrate Family Day than for the family to participate in a fun event together.”

The day’s festivities include:

Display Pavilions

  • Replica weapons, armour & artifacts
  • King & Queen presence
  • Combat demonstrations
  • Archery display

Games, Events and Activities

  • Hit the Knight
  • Trebuchet
  • Children’s archery
  • Heraldry
  • Brass rubbings (with Grace Carrothers)

Entertainment

  • Magician
  • Roaming characters
  • Photobooth
