A pair of great charitable ideas in Guelph need your help tapping into some special funding.

École élémentaire catholique St. René Goupil and Wyndham House are both trying to win Aviva Community Grants, a fund set up by Aviva Insurance that will donate over $1 million this year to charitable causes and ideas in communities across Canada.

Finalists for the grants are chosen via online voting, which is where you come in.

St. René Goupil’s project is to build a 100 metre running track surrounded by trees.

Wyndham House, which helps homeless youth transition into society, is seeking $50,000 for its Get Cooking program, money that will be used to buy commercial-grade equipment, supplies and help fund supervisory staff.

People that register through the Aviva grant web site get 18 votes to cast in for the project or projects they think are best.

The top 15 in each category (the two Guelph projects are in different categories) move on to the finals.

Voting ends Oct. 19 at 5 p.m.

To register, click here and search “Guelph” geographically to find the two local projects.
