Major fire in Mount Forest sends fire fighter to hospital

WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP – Sunday at approximately 11 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Wellington North Fire Services and the Town of Minto Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment building located on Queen Street in Mount Forest, Wellington North Township.

The structure is a single level, 10 unit apartment complex and four of the units were destroyed.

The fire has since been put out. Queen Street between Main Street and Parkside Street was temporarily shut down while crews battled the blaze and has now reopened.

A fire fighter was transported to a local hospital by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a precaution and has since been released.

Office of the Fire Marshall has been contacted and will be attending the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
