WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP – On Nov. 12, 2016 at approximately 4:53 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2000 Toyota on George Street near Wellington Road 12 in Arthur, Wellington North Township.

While speaking with the male driver, the officer observed an empty vial that contained methamphetamine residue. The male surrendered a quantity of methamphetamine to the officer and he was placed under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was not properly insured and the plates were not registered to that particular vehicle.   

42-year-old David Johnston of Wellington North Township has been charged with possession of methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, no insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and use plates not authorized contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Jan. 3, 2017 to answer to the charges.
