PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP – On Aug. 22, 2016 at approximately 7:02 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Wellington Road 86 near Wellington Road 30, Guelph-Eramosa Township and observed a 2015 GMC pickup truck speeding.
It was locked on radar at 149 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The male driver was spoken with and the officer believed that the driver had consumed alcohol.
A Roadside Screening test was administered which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
44-year-old Brian Jans of Centre Wellington Township has been charged with;
- Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code.
- Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
