TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE - On Dec. 25, 2017, shortly after 1:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision (MVC) east of the junction of Highway 108 and Highway 17 within the Township of the North Shore.

Police attended the MVC scene, where a westbound vehicle lost control crossed the eastbound lane and entered the south side ditch on Highway 17 then striking a rock face. The vehicle was severely damaged and the driver and passenger received non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was towed.

As a result of the investigation, Eyobed Tekeste, 25 years of age from Guelph, Ontario was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Careless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
