Metallica fans can drive in and rock out later this month, as the iconic metal band will offer a two-hour concert experience to drive-in theatres across North America.

Encore Drive-In Nights featuring Metallica is set to air locally on Aug. 29 at the Mustang Drive-In. The concert is filmed specifically for the one-night-only event and will be the band’s first show of 2020.

“The concert event will provide Metallica fans with an intimate, up-close drive-in concert experience, featuring material spanning the band’s nearly four decade career,” said a press release for the event.

Organizers say the concert will adhere to guidelines recommended by local public health mandates.

Measures include vehicle spacing, window guidelines, personal protective equipment for staff, contactless payment and ticketing and restroom procedures. Concert-goers should bring masks and hand sanitizer.

Among the rules for the event is no illegal drugs or alcohol permitted. Weapons are also not permitted for the concert.

The band Three Days Grace will be a special guest for the performance, with footage filmed specifically for this event.

Sound for the concert will be broadcast through an FM transmitter on site and played through the stereo in your vehicle or through a battery-operated FM radio. Headlights must be turned off for the duration of the event.

Tickets are available Friday at TicketMaster.com. More information can be found at the web site for the Mustang Drive-In.

Each ticket will allow for up to six people win one vehicle, and will also include four digital downloads of Metallica’s S&M2, a live album that was made with the San Francisco Symphony.

The show is scheduled to run from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Mustang Drive-In Theatre at 5012 Jones Baseline. A reschedule or possible refund may be available in the case of severe weather.

The Mustang Drive-In will be one of 10 drive-in theatres across Ontario to offer the concert on Aug. 29.
