There is more joy coming to Guelph later this month.

Joy In The City III: A Gospel Christmas Celebration takes place at the River Run Centre's Co-operators Hall on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

Last year's Joy In The City II took place at the Guelph Little Theatre, which is under renovation this year.

"The River Run was part of my bucket list," said Verese Vassell-Bowen, who produces the show along with her husband Johann.

"It's such a stellar production that moving up in the world is really an ambitious goal, it was part of my five-year strategy of 'where do I see Joy going.?' It's a prestigious venue."

The acoustics, the support staff and the technology on hand will make for the best show ever, Vassell-Bowen said.

This year's evening of song, dance and celebration includes Juno award winners Sharon Riley and Carlos Morgan, along with Jeff Harden, Renee Rowe, Michael Austin Harris, Trevor Dick, Carrie Guse, Vassell-Bowen and others.

"We've got a great lineup," Vassell-Bowen said. "Rehearsals have been incredible."

"I'm totally excited to the point where I feel nervous every now and then. I have to keep telling myself 'calm down, it's totally awesome.'"

The Guelph CVI drum corps will be part of the opening.

"Local talent is very much a part of this," Vassell-Bowen said. "We've gone big! We're not going home!"

Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for children and can be purchased through the River Run Centre box office.
