Police said the man was driving a Yamaha motorcycle south on Silvercreek Parkway North when it struck the rear of a Nissan pickup truck also travelling south.

The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and sent the rider and motorcycle into oncoming traffic, where the rider was struck by a Ford pickup truck, police said.

The motorcyclist was transported to the Guelph General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

No other parties were injured as a result of the collision.

A section of Silvercreek Parkway North, from Speedvale Avenue West to Campbell Road, was closed for several hours while police investigated the collision.
