Food and music to celebrate a momentous anniversary.
Guelph is one of six Ontario cities where grocery store chain Metro Ontario will host a chow-while-you-listen event for Canada’s 150th anniversary. It’s happening Thursday evening in the York Road Park near The Boathouse and the Covered Bridge, starting at 7:45 p.m.
The grocer wants to celebrate cities that exemplify essential Canadian characteristics. Guelph is noted for building bridges between many cultures, which Metro Ontario sees as one of the defining qualities of Canada.
The Covered Bridge venue is seen as symbolic of the connections made between fellow Canadians. Expect loads of good Canadian music.
The evening includes a cocktail reception featuring snacks by chef Mike Ward, and moves into free public concert featuring Guelph-based musicians, and a surprise performance by a well-known JUNO Award-nominated musician. Sign up to attend the concert at www.metro.ca/homegrown.
