National Georgraphic Explorers George Kourounis, Host of Angry Planet, and local teacher Joe Grabowski will be sharing their experiences about their journeys to  Antarctica and Galapogos Islands at an upcoming event.

It takes place July 16 at Cutten Fields from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

George Kourounis is an award-winning explorer who specializes in documenting extreme forces of nature worldwide: volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and other extreme weather events as well as the effects of global climate change," say organizers of the event.

"His efforts to document nature's most extreme conditions have taken him to 65 countries, into places most people are fleeing. Whether it's a tornado outbreak in Kansas, a monster hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, forest fires in Australia, rising sea levels in Tuvalu, melting permafrost in Siberia, the frigid extremes of Antarctica, or descending deep inside an active volcano in the Congo, he is in the middle of the action—with his camera in hand."

"Grabowski is an educator and scuba diver working to bring science, exploration, adventure, and conservation into classrooms across North America and beyond through virtual speakers and field trips.

"He is the founder of the nonprofit Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants, which, since 2015, has hosted more than 1,000 video conferences with leading scientists and explorers from over 50 countries, connecting them with hundreds of thousands of students."

The event is free but reservations are recommended. Go here for more information.
