Neighbours of a heritage home on Glasgow Street slated to be demolished are taking the city to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Laura Bolton, one of the organizers of the Neighbours of Glasgow Street North, confirmed Friday that they will be appealing a recent decision by the city's committee of adjustment regarding 202 Glasgow St. N. at the OMB.
There is little that can be done about the decision to demolish the building. What the neighbourhood group is appealing is the granting of a variance to the second floor of the proposed new home that will be built once the current home is demolished.
That variance allowed for the second floor to be larger than what is laid out in the city's guidelines for a connected apartment.
Neighbours feel that the owner of the home has plans to turn the building into a triplex at some point.
The owner, Craig Purdie, vehemently denied that when he spoke at the committee of adjustment, saying there is "nothing nefarious" about his plans for the home. He said he plans to retire there and rent out an apartment on the second floor.
