New café set to open in south Guelph

Reset Social Cafe will open in September at the corner of Gordon Street and Clair Road

Reset Social Cafe is coming to Guelph this September, a new cafe with a focus on food.

The café has put in a liquor license application for their location at 1886 Gordon St. unit 103. It is a business on the ground level of the Gordon Square condo building.

“It just seemed like a really, really cool location,” said Adam Grinstead, owner of Reset in London.

The first location opened in 2019 in London. Guelph will be their second, and only other location as of 2022.

Primarily a café with coffee and tea beverages. They offer all day breakfast. Some of their items include an açai smoothie bowl, scrambled egg breakfast wrap, salads, smoothies and espresso-based beverages.

They also sell beer and wine. "At our current location we find there's a lot of the Saturday evening, 'you know what I'm having more people over than I thought, I got to grab another bottle of wine for this,'" said Grinstead.

A lot of their regulars who come for coffee throughout the week, grab a bottle of wine for the weekend, he said.

“Heavy focus on food than the average café,” said Grinstead. “Upbeat environment, a nice place to hang out.”

“There was sort of that void, that meeting space for community where you can go on a date, take your dog on a walk, and not feel in a rush to leave,” he said of community cafés.

"Reset is here to be the local hub for connecting and exchanging thoughts and ideas because the 'social"' part of our café is you!' said on their website.
