FERGUS - A new theatre group based in Fergus is looking to create opportunities for newcomers to the stage world.
Centre Wellington Theatre Productions (CWTP) is currently planning is first production, Charlotte's Web, so be performed at Fergus's Melville United Church this November.
"It's been over a year in the making. Of course these things don't happen overnight," said Jennifer Milne, who started the new group along with Denise Grismondi and Simon Leibovitz.
"We just felt like we'd like to branch out and create something on our own, offering some new opportunities for some people that don't always get them in established theatre groups," Milne said.
Milne will be directing the first production, although all three have been involved with the theatre scene for many years, having a combined 125 years of theatre experience.
The motto of the new company is “branching out,” offering new community theatre opportunities for actors, directors, stage crew and technical-minded individuals with little or no theatre experience to those who are veterans
Milne was born and raised in Fergus, Gismondi moved to Fergus a few years ago and Leibovitz lives in Guelph. All three have a long history with various theatre groups that have come and gone in the area.
Centre Wellington Theatre Productions is also looking for people to be involved on the technical crew, props, costumes and all the behind the scenes things that go into putting on a performance.
Auditions for the 16-person Charlotte’s Web cast will be held at Melville United Church, 300 St. Andrew St. W., on July 15 and 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with callbacks July 21 at 2 p.m.
The cast is approximately 16 characters, ranging in all ages.
