The new pedestrian crossing on Gordon Street is being installed.

The crossing, which cost $60,000 to install, is located just north of the Boat House.

The crossing is expected to cost $60,000 to install.

The existing signalized crossing at Water Street just south of the Boathouse will remain in place and will be synchronized with the new crossing.

A consultant’s study done last July looking at where people cross on the stretch of Gordon Street between the lawn bowling club and James Street showed most people (43 per cent) crossed at the Boathouse/park entrance.

A study done at the same location in September showed most cross at Water Street (52 per cent), due to the fact more people were heading to the bus stop at that intersection, the report says.

City staff previously identified possible traffic backups on Gordon and short bus delays as potential issues with the new crossing.
