A new 66-unit development of stacked and on-street townhouses is being proposed for Arkell Road.

Waterloo-based developer Crescent Homes has applied for rezoning to build the project at 190 to 216 Arkell Road, on the north side of the road half way between Gordon Street and Victoria Road, directly opposite Summerfield Drive.

A draft plan of subdivision and a zoning bylaw amendment application have been submitted with the city.

Plans submitted to the city include two three-storey buildings each containing 16 stacked townhouses and 34 on-street townhouses on the 2.5-hectare property. There would also be 85 parking spaces.

There are currently four detached houses on it that will be demolished.

The plans call for a new road to be built through the project from Arkell Road to Dawes Avenue.

A public meeting on the project at a planning meeting of Guelph City Council will be scheduled at a later date.
