The Guelph Nighhawks’ record fell to 1-5 in Canadian Elite Basketball League action on Wednesday, coming up short 92-71 against the Fraser Valley Bandits.
“The effort’s there, we just have to clean up some things and I think we ran out of steam,” said Nighthawks’ head coach Charles Kissi in a news release. “On to the next one.”
Guelph’s top scorers just couldn’t manage to punch through the Bandit defences enough to pull off victory.
Justin Jackson left the game three minutes in, while Cat Barber and Ahmed Hill combined forjust 26 points on inefficient 11-35 shooting from the field.
Guard Kimbal Mackenzie set a season-high mark with 14 points, while big man Chad Brown continued his torrid pace after he joined his squad later into the season, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds.
Up next for the Nighthawks is a trip to Saskatoon to take on the winless Saskatchewan Rattlers on Friday at 9 p.m.
