CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP – On February 1, 2016 at approximately 8:22 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding numerous Canada Post Superboxes (mailboxes) being entered throughout the County as well as in other policing jurisdictions including Waterloo Region and City of Guelph.
Investigation revealed that sometime overnight on January 31, 2016 unknown persons gained access to numerous Superboxes by prying open the main door and accessing the mail.
Not all the mailboxes were successfully entered which resulted in the main door being bent outward and deep gouges on the outside of the mailbox, below the main door.
It is unknown how much mail has been taken or the estimate of damage done to the mailboxes.
Any person with information regarding these incidents is asked contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Wellington County OPP encourages residents to remove mail daily from mailboxes and to report any suspicious activity observed.
