Oh, how the mighty leaves have fallen (30 Photos)

City's fall colours stripped by strong winds

The brilliant autumn leaves were no match for the strong winds that gushed into the city this week, on the heels of unseasonably warm temperatures that arrived Monday and Tuesday.

Everywhere the fall colours once stood majestically in red, orange and yellow, they fell, covering sidewalks, accumulating along curbs, coating lawns, and placing colourful leaf blankets over forest floors.

Homeowners rushed to keep up to the downpour of leaves, pushing them to the street in preparation for the city’s annual curbside leaf pickup. The piles were soon scattered.

Strollers took to the parks Tuesday to absorb the warmth and witness the swirling spectacle before it was gone for another year.
