One person injured in two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 7 (5 photos)

A man's injuries were being assessed at the scene to determine if he needed to be airlifted to the hospital

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – One man has suffered potentially serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 7 and Wellington Road 51 late Tuesday morning.

Staff Sgt. Darryl Porterfield said at the scene Wellington OPP responded around 11:30 a.m. to a two vehicle collision at the intersection near the County of Wellington roads garage. 

Porterfield explained their initial investigation found a vehicle travelling southbound on Wellington Road 7 and an eastbound vehicle on Wellington Road 51 were involved in a collision. 

At the time, the driver travelling southbound was being assessed for injuries by a Ornge Air Ambulance paramedics, who arrived on the scene around 12:30 p.m., to determine if he meets the criteria for their transport. Porterfield said the man's injuries are potentially serious and it will be determined by paramedics if they are major, life altering or life-threatening.

Two passengers in the other vehicle appeared to only have minor injuries and would be released from the scene. 

Porterfield said they will be investigating the accident to determine if there would be any charges. 

Wellington Road 51 is closed from Second Line East to Highway 6 and Wellington Road 7 is closed between Eighth Line and Highway 6.
