OPP forensic unit on scene of morning fire

GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP – Today at approximately 4 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Guelph Fire Department responded to a report of a fully engulfed structure fire at vacant barn on Fife Road near Whitelaw Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The barn was destroyed and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit along with officers from the Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) continues to investigate this incident. 

Investigators from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were notified and will be attending.

Any person with information regarding this incident should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

OPP ask that residents keep an eye on their properties, lock-up out buildings, vehicles, etc. and if they see any suspicious persons or activities – especially at night/early morning hours call police immediately.
