OPP seize $100,000 worth of drugs in Wellington North bust

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH — In the early hours of Friday July 7, 2017, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a rural residence on Wellington road 16 near Damascus.

As a result, OPP seized a quantity of drugs, weapons and drug production and trafficking equipment resulting in charges for two men. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $100,000.

58-year-old Lawrence Jesse (Larry) Jouhnson of Arthur Township was arrested and held for bail. He is charged with:

  • Production of Cannabis Marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.)
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the C.D.S.A.
  • Possession of Cannabis Resin contrary to the C.D.S.A.
  • Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code (C.C.)
  • Failing to Comply with a Recognizance of a Justice contrary to the C.C.
  • Failing to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the C.C.

A warrant has been issued for David Andrew Westra, 59-year-old of Sundridge. He is charged with:

  • Production of Cannabis Marihuana contrary to the C.D.S.A.
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the C.D.S.A.
