Patient punches security at hospital

A Guelph General Hospital security guard sustained a minor injury late last week after he was punched in the face by a patient at the hospital. The incident happened on Thursday.

Lucas Jacobs, 54, who was in the hospital for treatment at the time. He has been charged with assault, as well as with mischief under $5,000, uttering threats and breach of probation.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday.

According to Guelph Police, a suspect receiving medical treatment in the hospital began to cause a disturbance. When hospital security responded, an officer was struck in the face.

During a struggle, the male suspect kicked out a glass panel in the sliding door of his room, and made threats to the officer.

The man’s medical treatment continued once the situation was under control.
