Pickup truck driver dead after Mapleton township collision

The passenger in the pickup truck was airlifted to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries

One person has died and another has suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Mapleton Township Monday.

On July 25, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Wellington Road 8 and Wellington Road 10. 

Wellington County OPP along with the Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service, Ornge Air Ambulance and the Mapleton Fire Department attended the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was airlifted to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notifications. 

Wellington Road 8 and Wellington Road 10 were closed in both directions for several hours. 

The OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are assisting the Wellington County OPP with the investigation.
