A pilot project by the city is allowing children to ride the Guelph Transit free for a year.

Starting March 1, children between five to 12 can ride the Guelph Transit with a registered OnYourWay fare card which can be purchased at select retailers, online, or at city hall.

After March 1, OnYourWay fare cards will cost $5.

Children four and under are still able to ride Guelph Transit buses for free without a fare card.

The one-year pilot program is scheduled to run till Feb. 28, 2023.

To evaluate the program’s success, the city plans to use the rider data collected by tapping fare cards to understand how often the program was used.
