Police at RIDE check sniff out 'fresh marijuana'

GUELPH-ERMAOSA TOWNSHIP – On Jan. 22, 2017 at approximately 8:25 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting RIDE spot checks at Jones Baseline and Eastview Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township. 

Officers investigated the two male occupants of a red Nissan that entered into the checkpoint.

Officers immediately detected the odour of fresh marijuana inside the vehicle. When asked about it the passenger surrendered a zip lock baggy containing suspected marijuana. 

31-year-old Blaine Murray, of Acton, has been charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph criminal court on Mar. 10, 2017 to answer to the charges.
