Police investigating possible threat to area high school

CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP – On May 26, 2016 at approximately 10:50 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information of a possible threat of violence at Centre Wellington District High School.  

Both police and the school initiated appropriate protocol ensuring the safety of students and staff. Police and school staff conducted a search of the property with nothing suspicious being located.

Police are continuing to investigate however have determined no threat exists at this time. 

Police would like to remind the public that all incidents relating to educational institutions are taken seriously.

It is an offence of public mischief when someone, with intent to mislead, causes a police officer to enter into or continue an investigation by making a false statement that accuses someone of committing an offence.

Anyone with any information relating to this or any other inappropriate school activity are urged to call Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
