Police investigation underway in northwest part of city

No word yet on what exactly happened at 177 Elmira Rd. but police say there is no risk to the public

Guelph Police are at the scene of an investigation in the northwest part of the city.

Police are saying little about what happened at a home at 177 Elmira Rd., where Elmira Road intersects with Flaherty Drive, just south of Speedvale Avenue.

The address is a large detached building with a two-car garage.

Several cruisers and a forensic unit were on the scene Tuesday afternoon and the area was cordoned off with police tape. By late afternoon just two cruisers remained.

Const. Kyle Grant said the investigation was in the early stages so he had few details. He did say there was no danger to the public.

No other emergency vehicles were on scene late afternoon.

People wearing protective clothing, gloves and masks were seen entering the building.

The street remains open to traffic.
