Police say Kawasaki lost control at a light

On April 24, 2016 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to attend a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 near Willow Road, Guelph. 

A man was driving southbound on a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle and lost control approaching the stop light.  

Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and treated him for minor injuries. 

Police spoke with the man and believed that alcohol was consumed. 

A roadside screening test was administered which resulted in a fail.  He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing. It was also discovered that there was no insurance on the bike. 

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

30-year-old James Bernard of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code and Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 14, 2016.
