Police seek witnesses to serious Mapleton Twp. collision

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 13, 2016 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle on Wellington Road 12 just west of Wellington Road 7, Mapleton Township.

Passing motorists located a 2015 GMC pick-up truck that had gone off the roadway and rolled in to the ditch.  

The lone male driver suffered serious injuries and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by Mapleton Fire Rescue. 

He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with the Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and then transported by air ambulance to a London area hospital.

The driver has been identified as 30-year-old Andrew Strucyk of Mapleton Township.    

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by Technical Collision Investigators from Wellington County OPP.

The citizens at the scene did not witness this collision and the Wellington County OPP is asking anyone who witnessed this collision take place to please call 1-888-310-1122.
