Event was a qualifier for the world championships in the United States later this year

Over 100 men and women were in Guelph Saturday to take part in the Canadian Powerlifting Federation WPC Worlds Pro Powerlifting Qualifier at the Holiday Inn.

The competition, which was hosted by Guelph's Android Bodies and its owner Brody Arndt, featured a pro and amateur division where competitors competed in squat, bench press and dead lift.

The day-long event was the eastern Canadian qualifier for the world championships taking place later this year in Louisiana. Winners also took home some cash, gift certificates and donated products and equipment.

The event also drew about 350 spectators.
