Some Guelph Storm ticket holders are about to be disappointed.

With the province's announcement Wednesday that venues with over 1,000 capacity will be restricted to 50 per cent of that capacity, the Storm will be informing some ticket holders that they won't be able to attend the game.

"Capacity at the Sleeman Centre has been reduced to 50 per cent effective Saturday, December 18th. We will be contacting ticket purchasers by game date starting with Saturday's game against the London Knights. Attendance will be reduced by cancelling and refunding ticket purchases beginning with the most recent transactions and continuing backward by purchase date until the government required limits have been reached. Impacted ticket buyers will be contacted through email by the Guelph Storm and Igniter tickets."

Right now the rules apply to games up to and including Jan. 14, which covers five home games. Capacity at the Sleeman Centre will be limited to 2,500 for those games.

This Friday's home game against the Erie Otters has already been postponed due to positive COVID tests for 13 Erie players.

The new restrictions do not effect season ticket holders.

The team will be working backwards from the most recent ticket purchases when informing people who won't be able to attend that game.
