Queen of Craft gets to make its brew (7 photos)

Lily the Pink IPA will be ready for purchase at the end of the month, with proceeds going to Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis

Queen of Craft, the annual Wellington Brewery event that features women teaching women about beer, is a guaranteed sell-out every year in the spring.

On Tuesday some of the lucky members of this year's Queen of Craft got to come to the brewery help make the beer that this year's Queen of Craft chose.

Lily The Pink is a sour IPA that includes pink peppercorns and a little lime zest. Roughly 2,000 tall cans of the beer will be available in the brewery's retail store at the end of the month, with proceeds, as is the case with all Queen of Craft events, going to Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis.

"Sour beers are very on trend right now," said Karyn Boscariol, Wellington Brewery's event coordinator.

Queen of Craft comes up with three ideas for its own creation and then decides on which one to make. The Lily The Pink label was created by Wellington Brewery's Amber Ozols.

This is the fifth year for Queen of Craft. The six participants on hand to help with the brewing process were selected out of a hat from those that attended all of the Queen of Craft sessions last spring.
