The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the 2017 Regional Economic Summit on May 12, 2017 at The Frank Hasenfratz Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing.

This half-day apex forum will generate input from key stakeholders as we map our region’s prosperity into the future.

The Regional Economic Summit will look at how to structure the investments required for the region to thrive amid the population and economic growth expected over the next two decades. The event will be the largest single gathering of leaders in the region.

“The future regional economy will rely heavily on advanced research, clusters of industrial activity and close cooperation among universities, colleges, companies and governments,” says Kithio Mwanzia, President & CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce.

“As such, discussion at the Summit will focus on collaborative practices and successful partnerships between business, academia, community, and government that will be necessary as we continue to build effective networks, initiatives, infrastructure, talent, global opportunities and design ideas that will lead to a more liveable community and resilient regional economy. As our region sees unprecedented growth, such collaborative partnerships will catalyze new economic successes.”

Keynote speaker John Jensen, Interim President & CEO of Metrolinx will address building a cohesive transportation network to move talent & capital through the Toronto-Guelph-Waterloo corridor more seamlessly and its importance as an economic priority.

The Summit will also feature a Regional Leaders Panel that will focus on building a globally competitive region and strong partnerships between multiple levels of government, institutions, and the private sector.

“Our economic region is ideally situated to take advantage of our place in the world – we look forward to exploring strategies to accomplish this at the Regional Economic Summit,” concludes Mwanzia.

The 2017 Regional Economic Summit takes place on May 12 from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at The Frank Hasenfratz Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing. Be sure to reserve your seat around the table. For more information on this event, click here
