Residents seriously injured in home invasion

Police say they were targeted. Five guys from Toronto and Scarborough were arrested. Officers are still looking for a firearm used in the alleged robbery

On the 26th of February 2016 at approximately 1:46 a.m., Guelph Police responded to a call of a break in enter in progress.

Investigation revealed that a number of adult males forced their way into a Guelph residence on the east side of the city. 

Two residents were assaulted and suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries. 

They were treated at the Guelph General Hospital. 

The suspects stole a number of items including electronics and drugs.    

Five adult males from the Toronto and Scarborough area have been arrested and charged with various offences including: Robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence, use firearm in the commission of a criminal offence, use imitation firearm in the commission of a criminal offence, weapons dangerous, assault cause bodily harm, assault with a weapon, break/enter and commit criminal offence, mischief to property and possession of a controlled substance.

The Guelph Police are continuing in their investigation and are searching for additional suspects for this incident. 

There was a firearm used in the commission of these offences which has not been recovered. 

Further information will be provided when available.   

Police believe this was a targeted incident and do not believe there is a concern for the public at large.
