TOWN OF ERIN – On June 30, 2016 at approximately 8:04 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle rollover into the ditch on Trafalgar Road near Side Road 27 in the Town of Erin.

Investigation revealed that a witness was following a 1999 Honda southbound on Trafalgar Road that was weaving erratically all over the road as it slowed down and sped up.

The witness passed the Honda and continued to watch it in her rear view mirror as it swerved into oncoming traffic several times before it lost control on the gravel shoulder and rolled several times in the ditch.

Police attended the scene and spoke with the male driver.

Officers detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath who [is alleged to have] advised that he had consumed alcohol the previous evening at his High School Commencement.

He was placed under arrest and taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 3 days as per statute.

18-year-old Noah Cameron, of Fergus, has been charged with impaired driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Novice Driver BAC Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
