Aimed at enticing more young people and the next generation of leaders in the Guelph community to give, the sold-out Royal Reach event raised double what was raised last year during the annual event – an incredible $60,000 and still counting. This year’s Royal Reach Gala was held in support of Children’s Foundation of Guelph Wellington and Food4Kids Guelph, two local charities addressing food insecurity for children in the Guelph community.

Royal Reach’s annual Gala creates a platform that encourages and facilitates next generation philanthropic giving in the Guelph community. Co-founders Christina FitzGibbon and Morgan Dundas believe the opportunity to ‘party with a purpose’ and support local charities should be available to everyone who is fortunate enough to have the means to help.

“Royal Reach proceeds this year will ensure many young bellies stay full and healthy and we couldn’t have done it without amazing attendees, sponsors and partners who care about the impact we can make in our community,” says Morgan Dundas, co-founder of Royal Reach.

“I am so proud of what our small group has been able to accomplish this year. It has been such a fun experience working together with our friends and peers on this event, to say it has been rewarding is an understatement,” says Christina FitzGibbon, co-founder of Royal Reach.

“Royal Reach 2023 held at Cutten Club on May 6th was a beautiful, happy party that has already become an iconic annual event in Guelph!” enthused Terrie Jarvis from Food4Kids Guelph – one of the two charities benefitting from the evening’s net proceeds. “The organizers’ attention to detail for Royal Reach was a ‘masterclass’ in event management. More seriously, it was uplifting to see the torch being passed from an older generaton of community difference-makers to a younger generation – which is exactly the intention of the organizers. Royal Reach demonstrates that the future is in strong, loving hands.”

“We’re incredibly honoured to be one of the charities chosen for Royal Reach this year,” says Amanda Kavchak, director of marketing and community engagement at the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. “With the cost of food continuing to rise, we are seeing more and more children accessing food from our student nutrition programs. Events like Royal Reach not only raise awareness of the food insecurity problem our community is facing, but also critical funds to keep those programs stocked with nutritious food for local students.”

For the first time ever at this years Gala, the committee selected three charities for attendees to vote on, to be selected as the charitable partner to support for Royal Reach 2024. The crowd voted in real time after watching videos from each charity. The Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington’s new Centre for Child and Youth Mental Health and Developmental Services on Woolwich Street in Guelph was selected by the crowd.

"We really look forward to the opportunity to work with CMHA WW next year and hope that we can bring more awareness to the needs in our city,” says FitzGibbon.
