FERGUS – Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) partners with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) to offer COVID-19 vaccines at the Rural Wellington Assessment Centres located in Fergus and Harriston.

“We are pleased to be able to collaborate with public health in this way and excited to deliver this initiative to our rural communities,” says Stephen Street, President and CEO, WHCA. “The Assessment Centres have been instrumental in our efforts to overcome this pandemic. Adding vaccines to the list of services will make an even greater impact as we work together to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, protect our hospital capacity and save lives.”

As of Monday August 23rd, the Fergus Assessment Centre will offer COVID-19 vaccines. The clinic will run Monday to Friday 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. In addition, beginning Thursday Sept. 2 the Harriston Assessment Centre will offer vaccines, appointments will be available on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“Throughout the pandemic the hospitals of Wellington County have demonstrated a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of the community they serve. I want to thank the leadership and staff of Wellington Health Care Alliance for everything they are doing to protect Wellington County from the effects of this pandemic. The ability for residents to access the vaccine through the WHCA Assessment Centres is another way local partners are making it easier for every person in our region to get vaccinated. I encourage anyone who has yet to receive a first or second dose to get one as soon as possible.” States Dr. Nicola Mercer, WDGPH.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted depending on availability. For more information or to book your vaccine appointment, click here or call 1-226-383-2415.
