A sci-fi action film produced by a Guelph company and partially shot in Guelph will hit the big screen at the Apollo Cinema in Kitchener Jan. 20.

Defective had its world premiere at the Toronto After Dark Festival and the United States premier at the Other Worlds Austin festival.

Scenes from the movie were shot at Planet Bean in Downtown Guelph.

Cast and crew will be attending the 9 p.m. screening and there will be a question and answer period following.

A trailer for Defective can be seen here.

The movie also has a Facebook page.

The independent film took two years to complete, with filming interrupted by fundraising efforts. More fundraising was needed to get the film through post production.

"We had a lot of help from people in the area in getting the film made, and we’re very excited to be showing it here," said writer/director Reese Eveneshen.
