NEWS RELEASE

CRIME STOPPERS

**********************
No one wants to see our seniors as the victims of crime.

After all, nothing is more disturbing than thinking of our seniors, people who have contributed so much to our communities, who are possibly in declining health and with limited means, being targeted by criminals. But it happens; far too often.

That is why Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) wants to change the dialogue on crime against seniors. Instead of looking at our aging population as being vulnerable, we choose to look at our seniors as a valuable asset in the fight against crime. How? By using CSGW.

Whether it’s by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or going online www.csgw.tips, seniors are able take action. They don’t have to worry about repercussions because no one, not even CSGW, will know who they are!

One of the biggest by-products of crime is victimization – the fear of that same thing happening to you. By offering a program that allows our seniors to provide information about criminal activity, we can empower them, many of whom have fallen victim to scams or frauds.

Our senior population is a wonderful resource. They don’t have 9-5 schedules and have a much more fluid routine, therefore, they see a lot of things in our community when we are at work. They notice changes that we may overlook with our rush to work, family activities and other demands on our time.

We are proud to offer our services to our senior community. If you would like to book a CSGW presentation for your seniors group to learn more about how you can use the program, call 519-846-5371.

Happy Seniors’ Month!
