JL'S HOME HARDWARE BUILDING CENTRE

Celebrity chefs will be in the same place at the same time. The place is JL’s Home Hardware on 575 Wellington Street West in Guelph.

The time will be June 15, 2016 to help support Prostate Cancer Canada – Wellington & Waterloo.

“Skewer for a cure – Grilling Challenge” is new and will be Guelph’s own grilling version of the popular television show “Chopped Canada.”

It’s a pre-Father’s Day event planned for the whole family to enjoy. The way to a man’s heart may be through his stomach but many enjoy barbecuing the food that makes it there.

The celebrity chef judges for this event are all top in their field in their own rights.

Guelph’s own Emily Richards’ career has taken her from restaurant and hotel kitchens, Canadian Living Test Kitchen and Food Network cooking shows to media and TV celebrity chef.

Throughout this time she has always stayed true to her love of good food and getting people interested in cooking and enjoying great flavours. http://www.emilyrichardscooks.ca/

Emily will be joined by judge Chef Michael Benninger who came to cooking later in life than most, making the leap from skilled amateur to cooking professional in his late thirties.

Mike attended the Box Hill Institute of Trades and Further Education (TAFE), home of the top cooking school in Melbourne, Australia and graduating at the top of his class.

After many media appearances he soon became 'Burlington's Celebrity Chef'. http://www.chefmike.ca/ The third judge is Mark Steffler from Weber Barbeques Canada. www.weber.com

Everyone will get an opportunity to learn from Guelph’s very own professional chefs from top local eateries as they fire up their barbecues.

JL’s Home Hardware is hosting grill masters from some of Guelph’s great local eateries like The Keg, State & Main, Bite Guelph, Milestone’s, Valeriote’s Market, Fifty West/Delta Hotels and Envers.

Each chef challenger will be provided with a basket of mystery ingredients selected and supplied by Thatcher Farms.

Taste samples of each chef’s grilled gastronomy and judge for yourself which chef deserves the Grill King trophy for imagination and grillery.

Guests can also view a group of interesting antique cars and get some home renovation tips from the JL’s Vendor Market being held inside the store.

"Tie One On" Help support Prostate Cancer Canada and all the dads, uncles, sons and grandfathers for Father's Day. The whole family is encouraged to wear their world's ugliest tie.

Magic 106.1 morning show host Lisa Richards will be judging and awarding the best of the worst tie being worn. Lots of food and fun for a good cause.
