Guelph Police report that on Wednesday at 12:26 a.m., a woman sleeping inside her residence near the intersection of Willow Road and Applewood Crescent was awoken to a loud smash.
She went downstairs, found that her front door had been kicked in with damage to the frame as well, and observed fresh footprints in snow the leading away from her residence.
She called police and at 12:35 a.m., after following the footprints, police located the man allegedly responsible and he was subsequently arrested.
A 32 year old Paris, Ont., male has been charged with mischief under $5,000.
He will appear in court on Feb. 12.
The damage to property is estimated at $1,500.
