Royal City Studios’ Fall Concert Series kicks off on Oct. 25 with performances by catl. and The Breaking English, 7:30-11:30 p.m. in the Music Hall at Royal City Studios, 930 Woodlawn Rd. West, Unit 1 in Guelph, Ont.

Hailing from Toronto, catl. are a rock ‘n’ roll duo with a reputation for getting people on their feet to do a little dancing. They’ve released five full-length albums to critical acclaim and have toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and Canada since 2010. catl. recently released their fifth album “Bide My Time Until I Die” on Beast Records (France) and Romanus Records (U.S.).

catl. features Jamie Fleming bashing away on his ‘40s Gretsch guitar while Sarah Kirkpatrick holds down a steady, dirty groove on a two-piece drum kit. This super-charged couple have been lauded for their intense live performances and engaging stage presence.

The Breaking English are a five-piece Guelph-based rock band with progressive flair and pop sensibilities. Marrying ‘70s and ‘80s musicianship with modern songwriting and addictive hooks, The Breaking English are winning fans at every show they play with their high-energy performances and charismatic personalities. As The Breaking English puts it, “Basically, we sound like Elton John meets Black Flag.”

The concert will feature craft brews by Rhythm & Brews Brewing Company (a supporting pillar of Royal City Studios’ recent Classic Covers Cool Cars concert series) and food truck eats by El Milagro—Authentic Mexican Food.

Royal City Studios is a respectful music rehearsal and recording studio located at 930 Woodlawn Road W., Unit 1, Guelph, Ont. Situated to serve artists in Guelph, Fergus/Elora, Kitchener/Waterloo, Cambridge, Milton and the GTA, Royal City Studios is open from 2 p.m. until midnight on weekdays and  from noon to midnight on weekends. (Hours will vary on holidays.)
