The organizer of a series of seminars to be held each Wednesday in November seeks to demystify a number of topics surrounding cannabis and its use.

A total of four Cannabis Conversations will be held each Wednesday in November at The Cornerstone, each with its own topic of conversation. The four topics include: Cannabis 101, The Power of CBD, Edibles and Usage, as well as The Laws and You!

“Each week has its own theme, because it’s a big enough issue that we thought we would never get it covered over a cup of tea in an hour,” said Mark Rodford, owner of The Cornerstone and co-organizer for the event.

The Cornerstone is partnering with Kween Kannabis for the sessions.

The sessions will feature educational speakers, panel discussions, Q and As and time to mingle. The events are open to people 19 years of age and over.

Rodford said even though recreational cannabis use is now legal in Ontario, there are still a lot of unknowns around its usage.

“I think there’s a lot of people out there who don’t know A from B. You can talk about cannabis, but there are so many subsets from it and how you can take it in — are you going to smoke it or are you going to eat it?” he said.

“Right now, for a lot of people, there is still this unknown, this mystery, that I think we can shed some light on,” said Rodford.

There doesn’t seem to be as much awareness as with alcohol, said Rodford.

“I think it’s important, especially now that someone who just turned 19 will be able to order something. If they aren’t educated, like we do with alcohol consumption, maybe we’re setting them up for a bad experience or feeding into their ignorance,” said Rodford.

The seminars will be aimed at people ranging from age 19 to senior citizens.

Tickets are $30 per session or $100 to sign up in advance for all four weeks.
