Three drivers charged with possession

PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP – On March 19, 2016 at approximately 9:17 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) conducted a R.I.D.E. program at Gore Road near Side Road 10 in Puslinch Township.

While at the R.I.D.E. officers spoke with the male driver of a 2006 Acura and detected the strong odour of fresh marihuana emanating from the interior of the motor vehicle.   

Police located and seized a small quantity of marijuana. He was arrested released with a court date at the scene.

40-year-old Prinder BINNING of Cambridge has been charged with possession of marijuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 26, 2016.

PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP – On March 18, 2016 at approximately 10:10 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) conducted a R.I.D.E. program at Wellington Road 32 and Townline Road, Puslinch Township.

While at the R.I.D.E. officers spoke with the male driver of a 2001 Chevrolet and detected the strong odour of freshly burnt marijuana.   

Police located and seized a substantial quantity of marijuana. He was arrested released with a court date at the scene.

59-year-old Steven FRY has been charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 3, 2016.

CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP – On March 19, 2016 at approximately 7:55 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the male driver of a 2015 Volkswagon for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 6 just north of Fergus, Centre Wellington Township.

The driver verbally identified himself to the officer and advised that he was the registered owner of the motor vehicle.  

Further investigation revealed that the driver was currently under suspension from driving.

While speaking with the male driver, police located and seized a bag containing suspected bud marijuana. He was arrested and released at the scene with court documents

22-year-old Jacob Watson of Fergus has been charged with possession of marijuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, drive while under suspension and speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 8, 2016 to answer to the charges.
