A total of 339 City of Guelph employees made $100,000 or more in 2018.
That’s an increase of 107 (32 per cent) over 2017.
There are 146 non-union municipal employees in that total, 32 more than the previous year.
The list of those who made $100,000 or more are contained in a city report that is required under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act.
It should also be noted the numbers are partly skewed by the fact that two city union settlements, with fire and paramedics, resulted in back-pay to individuals that put them over the $100,000 mark. Some of those individuals might make less than $100,000 this year.
“The increase is attributed to retroactive payments made in 2018 relating to prior year earnings to employees in Fire and Paramedics, as well as the Council approved economic adjustments for our NUME group. The numbers above include all City of Guelph employees and Library employees. Guelph Police Services report separately to the Province,” the report says.
The list does not include members of the Guelph Police Service, who report separately.
At the end of 2018 the city employed 2,381 full and part-time employees.
The dollar amounts include pay, overtime, premium pays and retroactive adjustments for qualifying employees.
