June marks Recreation and Parks Month and the City of Guelph invites you to celebrate and get active by joining in on one of the many free recreation programs.

“Guelph is a community that celebrates well-being, regardless of age, through fun and play. We are also fortunate to have a variety of parks, trails and recreation facilities that provide countless recreational opportunities for residents,” says Heather Flaherty, acting general manager, Parks and Recreation.

With 95 parks, 150 kilometres of trails, and six recreation facilities in our community, you’re able to find a fun activity for the whole family. Try out a fitness or yoga class or join a free swim—all in celebration of Recreation and Parks Month.

Recreation and Parks Month, a program of Parks and Recreation Ontario, promotes the importance and benefits of being active and how recreation and parks contribute to quality of life for individuals, families, and communities.

In addition to Recreation and Parks Month, the City is celebrating June is Seniors’ Month by hosting events and activities at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre for residents 55 years old or older.

A flag raising ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 11:15 a.m. in front of City Hall. This year’s theme is ‘Seniors Making a Difference’—recognizing the important role that seniors play in our community.
