With less than a week to go, teams of the Southern Ontario Amazing Race are getting ready to rise to the challenges ahead.

Similar to the network television show, the 2016 Southern Ontario Amazing Race (SOAR) will challenge twenty teams of two to numerous physical and mental challenges throughout Southern Ontario and beyond.

The first challenge for SOAR teams is to raise funds for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. So far the teams have raised over $30,000 online!

The funds raised will help children in need have the support they need to reach their full potential, but that’s not all.

With your donation, teams will have a competitive advantage while racing, providing them with the opportunity to purchase Shortcuts, Yields and other life lines.

The Southern Ontario Amazing Racers are participating for many reasons. Kelly and Heather are colleagues, and are looking to challenge themselves and have fun while giving back to the community.

Jen and Jessica, sisters from Guelph; aim to raise $5,000 or more to enable the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington to continue to support children locally. Or as the sisters would put it, “We want to make a difference in this world Brocovish style.”

Each racer has a story, and you can learn more about them by visiting Therace.ca/teams. Help support a team’s quest to victory, in the challenges ahead on race day but also in knowing the contributions you make today will help a child in need.

The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is dedicated to insuring the development of young minds in our community by providing financial assistance for sports and recreation, breakfast, lunch and snack programs and scholarships.

“We recognize that there are so many people in need right in our own community, and participating in fundraising allows us to make a very real difference at the local level, while also challenging ourselves to push our limits and expand our own personal boundaries,” said Daryl and Glen; veteran racers.

We invite the public to cheer on the racers as they begin their journey across Southern Ontario. The starting line will be at Eramosa River Park. Teams will gather around 8 a.m. and the race officially starts at 8:30 a.m.
