Ontario Provincial Police investigators continue to gather evidence, and seek public assistance, after two deceased persons were discovered Wednesday in a home on the northern edge of Fergus, about 22 kilometres north of Guelph.

OPP spokesperson Const. Bob Bortolato said Thursday morning that the West Region OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit remains at the home, which is tucked about 25 meters off of Side Road 18 near Beatty Line.

The scene is near the Grace Christian Fellowship church and Farley Park.

Bortolato said police received a call from a concerned individual who requested officers check in on the home. Two people were found dead inside.

“We remain on the scene gathering evidence to gain an understanding of what took place,” Bortolato said.

He added that the events appear to be isolated, meaning the OPP does not feel there is a public safety concern. A postmortem on the deceased persons is to take place Thursday.

Bortolato was asked about the age, identity, and circumstances of the two people, but said such details will not be released at this time. When asked if the deaths are considered suspicious, he would only offer that the case is isolated.

He added that there are a number of homes near the residence.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.  Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
