Two more Guelph grocery stores have been given the okay to start selling beer and cider at the end of June.

The Zehrs store at 297 Eramosa Rd. and the Zehrs store at 1045 Paisley Rd. will both be allowed to sell beer starting June 30.

They join the Food Basics on Clair Road and the Metro on Edinburgh Road. The Food Basics also sells wine.

They are two of 76 grocery stores added to the expanding list allowed to sell beer and cider.

This brings the number of grocery stores in Ontario that can sell beer and cider up to 206. There are 70 that can sell wine.

The goal is to eventually have that number up to 450, the province says, plus 300 that can sell wine.

"This is the second round of Ontario's commitment to make it more convenient for people to buy beer, while opening up additional opportunities for breweries and cideries," said a news release from the Province of Ontario.
